Is political space closed in Rwanda?

Barafinda Fred says if Rwandans vote him for president, he will solve problem of bachelors

In Africa, It is known that to be a good politician in opposition is to say ‘’NO’’ to every decision that is taken and every achievement that was achieved by the ruling party. Because of denying everything in his motherland DRC, late Étienne Tshisekedi was nicknamed ‘’Monsieur ‘NO’’’

That Politics of painting in black what is even white is used by people who say to be Rwandan politician in exile saying that political space in Rwanda is closed.

Rwanda is nearing Presidential election in August,3 and 4. Yesterday, the first presidential aspirant submitted their presidential bid to National electoral commission.
Dr. Frank Habineza, Gilbert Mwenedata and Barafinda Sekikubo Fred were first to submit their dossiers.

Back to Barafinda, when NEC was busy receiving dossier, a new man who is not known in politics in Rwanda came from a side saying that he wants to be a candidate and he said that he leads an unknown and not registered  political party called  Rwanda Revolutionary United Democratic Advisers 200 Good Causes/RUDA, that  works in Kanombe.

NEC didn’t look him down; it received his documents and asked him to bring other missing documents.

Since I was a little kid till yesterday, I knew that at least to point out that you want to be a presidential candidate, you need to belong to a known political party, famous in politics or to be a man who wears suits and many others that characterize high profile people.

But in Rwanda, You just need to have ideas that you think are good and will bring changes to you country. You express yourself and Rwandans vote, you deserve or you don’t.

Since President Paul Kagame took power in 2000, He made good changes in education, health, security forces, development,… but beyond of that he made Rwandans confident.

So Barafinda’s willing to compete for the presidential seat, the man who is from nowhere and who is not being pushed by his wealth is a good fact about on which level political space and Rights of expression are in Rwanda.

By concluding, African achievements shouldn’t be calculated in westerns reports but in facts on field, so Rwanda is on the right way and who says that political space in Rwanda is closed, he/she is wrong. Barafinda is good fact.
