In his visit to Switzerland June 8 at FIFA headquarter in Zurich, President Paul Kagame met with FIFA boss Gianni Infantino. By giving him a philosophical but simple understandable gift; Infantino gave the president of Rwanda a blue and white No 9 jersey.
Jersey No 9 is usually worn by centre forwards or strikers, who hold the most advanced offensive positions on the pitch, and are often the highest scorers in the team.
In football history, No 9 jersey holders like the famous Brazilian Ronaldo who used to be the Real Madrid player, the Italian Filip Inzaghi, Gabriel Baptistuta and Alfred de Stefano were key scores, leaders in the pitch. And they are World football legends that set records that nowadays generation is fighting to remove.
Back in Rwanda, in 1994 when the world had been behaving blindly before deadly regime of Juvenal Habyarimana that orchestrated the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, President Paul Kagame led Rwanda Patriotic Army and halted the killings.
Twenty three years now from zero, President Paul Kagame gathered Rwandans who had been scattered and healed orphans and widows who were stayed lonely and now, they happy to be Rwandans.
President Paul Kagame:
- Re-introduced Gacaca courts that gave in total, 1,958,634 Rwandans
- Introduced Girinka that played a major role in downsizing malnutrition.
-Country’s GDP grew by 8% between 2000 and 2014
-And over one million Rwandans were lifted out of poverty
The world best player is awarded Ballon d’Or but our president had won many since he chose to be a man to win than empty talks.
