Under his Presidency, Dr Frank Habaineza will build a wall
that separates Rwanda from DRC. (Ukwezi.com)
March 19, 2017: A national congress
of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda picked its president Frank Habineza, as
flag bearer in the forthcoming Presidential election in August, 3 and 4 this
year.
After being nominated, Habineza,
who submitted his candidacy papers at the National Electoral Commission
recently, said that if he is voted to be President, he will build a wall that
separates Rwanda from Democratic Republic of Congo.
Rwanda shares frontier with DRC from
west to the Northern Province with two borders. Women, Men spend days and
nights crossing borders to carry out business in DRC (vice versa) to get life
for their families.
Cross-border trade facts between Rwanda and DRC
*In 2015, total trade between the
two countries amounted to $164, 5 million, according to figures from the
ministry.
*Between 40,000 and 45,000 people
cross Rwanda’s border with DR Congo known as Petite Barrière, daily.
*There are 23 cooperatives in
Rwanda and 12 associations in DR Congo plus others working individually. (The New Times, 2016)
Kivu belt road that connects west
and North part of Rwanda to DRC helps to boost economy in the region
Seventeen years under President
Paul Kagame, standard of living of people in West and Northern parts of Rwanda improved
but if Frank is voted for President, I fear that they will die of poverty
because businesses between two sides will be cut off.
Not only Rwandans in west and
North, We never know, tomorrow perhaps it will be you in East, south or in city of
Kigali.
Vote is personal choice but it is
better to vote who you trust he/she will bring development near you instead of policies
that don’t work even in USA or in Europe where we say they are mature in
policy making.
